In our last post we discussed all of the things you should consider when creating your kitchen design. One of those considerations was storage. Checkout this post from Houzz to assess how much storage your home and family might need!
Ready to start your kitchen remodel? Call us today at 843-448-0041! We can’t wait to hear from you!
First and foremost, your layout is going to be the most key to ensuring that your kitchen design is the most efficient that it can be. Your layout will determine the placement of your appliances, cabinetry, and your need for paint. Additionally, the kitchen design will affect the number of people who can move about the kitchen before it gets too crowded. Traffic is a very important consideration to have when creating your kitchen design.
Do you love to cook? If so, you may want to consider your method of cooking and how you tend to move throughout the kitchen. Your kitchen design’s layout can be one of your best tools. Functionality is key!
Another important consideration is storage! How much storage do you need? Where within your kitchen design would you like to place storage?
Next, what colors will you use? First, what template of colors do you want to work with? What is the overarching theme and feel you hope to create? From these colors decide first the color of your floors, cabinets, and counter tops. These elements are more permanent within your kitchen and help to bring the kitchen design’s main feel to life. Now, for more fun: paint, backsplash, appliances, accents. The options are endless when creating your kitchen design. Have fun with it! This is your space. It is the heart of your home. Make sure that your kitchen design represents you and your home well!
Our third stop: lighting. When contemplating your kitchen design don’t be afraid of too much lighting. If you don’t need it, you turn it off. If you need it and it isn’t a part of your kitchen then you have to install more lighting, this can be frustrating and definitely more costly. When choosing lighting, be sure to consider the kitchen design’s layout. Where will you need light? Where will you need the option to dim lights? Do you need lights in any unique areas, such as around the baseboards, under your cabinets, inside of your cabinets, etc?
Lastly, think of what extra things might make your kitchen the most efficient. Do you need a special type of charging port? A custom designed pantry? Sliding cabinets? Hands-free sink? Be sure to add those special details to ensure that your kitchen design is the most efficient for you.
Remember! The most important thing about your kitchen is that you love it!
Thinking of remodeling your kitchen? That’s great! Houzz has a few questions for you to consider that you may not have considered!

In need of kitchen and bath renovations as well as a screen porch addition, the Freemans consulted with Ray Floyd at Re-Builders to enlarge existing tile shower with new tile floor & new lighting and two soap/shampoo niches, adding a frameless glass door, installed new vanity with a quartz top. The whirlpool tub was reused, but new tile apron & splash were added along with new plumbing fixtures.
Needing more counter, cabinet, and floor space as well updated appliances in their kitchen, the Freemans consulted with Ray Floyd at Re-Builders. The interior walls in the dining room, kitchen and den were removed first to open up space, allowing for more useful work space as well as more social interaction between the kitchen and other rooms. This is also a universal design, which allows them to use their kitchen safely, and assures that the space is accessible to and usable regardless of physical ability.
New custom cabinetry and countertops were installed, keeping in mind that a total of 158 inches of countertop frontage is needed to accommodate all uses, including landing area, preparation/work area and storage. Dated appliances were replaced with more energy saving (thus dollar saving) appliances, and designer Ann Harmon assisted the owner with material selections and finishes.
Oak hardwood floors were installed to match existing wood floor as well as a 12-foot vinyl sliding door that opens up to the relaxing 15×15 screen porch addition completed by Re-Builders, convenient also for outdoor entertaining. Large windows between the kitchen and the screen porch allow for more sunlight to open up the home even more to the outdoors.
It’s time to remodel your home! Call Ray Floyd at Re-Builders today to discuss. You may also “Request an Estimate” on our website at http://www.rebuildersmyrtlebeach.com .We look forward to working with you!
