“Transitional and contemporary styling is extremely popular in today’s bathrooms, reflective of an overarching trend that’s seeing traditional styles fade in popularity after years of dominance among homeowners”: (Kitchen & Bath Design News, April 2018)
A “2018 Design Trends” study was conducted by the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) and the results were released in January this year. Over 800 industry professionals were surveyed.
For the second year, traditional-styled bathrooms are in 3rd place at 53% as being “trendy”; 74% rated transitional and contemporary styles as trendy.
Other findings included wood as the material of choice for vanity doors, and quartz being the most popular in both the kitchen and the bathroom with granite and marble falling far behind. Porcelain tile received a high rating over ceramic and stone tile.
Undermount sinks are the most popular as well as freestanding tubs, and white fixtures are a favorite over silver or beige. 86% of respondents said LED bulbs are popular with homeowners as well as energy-efficient vent fans and low-flow toilets.
