Time to spruce up your dated bathroom but more is needed than just an esthetic update ? Think style, but also think safety and comfort: all elements of what is referred to as Universal Design.
This recent bathroom remodel by Re-Builders, Inc is the perfect example of a remodeled bathroom incorporated with the Universal Design concept, which is an ingenious approach that makes sure designs work for everyone, regardless of age, size, ability and changing needs.
Shower: When it comes to showers, universal design and luxury have a lot in common. Some of the hottest design trends — large, walk-in showers, boutique tiles, and versatile shower sprays — fit right in with designs that make showers safe, accessible and enjoyable to use.
Since our client preferred a bigger shower which is safer and easier to use than a tub, we removed the tub to make room, then made the shower entry almost barrier-free with low curb for access. We used a custom frameless glass and glass door, showcasing the beautiful custom tile with a soap niche built right in!
Grab bars, also a safety element, were installed. Grab bars seem to have a bad reputation, as people tend to think they are ugly and belong in hospitals. But grab bars now come in chic shapes and elegant finishes, often coordinating with other bathroom accessories. Notice the positions of these attractive grab bars in the photo that can be used while seated on the beautiful removable deco bench; one can pull herself up easily to stand on the gorgeous flat pebble floor which is both safe and friendly on the feet!
The grab bars, handheld shower that can be used while seated comfortably, as well as the faucets on the vanity are in a new updated and stylish Champagne Bronze.
Vanity: Though practical, the vanity was in need of an upgrade. With one standard large plate mirror and a standard cream countertop, this vanity was out of the new, stylish custom shower’s league!
The current dark wood cabinets would complement the new granite countertop very nicely as well as the new Champagne Bronze faucets. Replacing the institutional plate mirror with new framed mirrors gave a new style upgrade that paired well with the new shower.
