Should You Remodel Your Bathrooms One at a Time or All at Once?
Recent Re-Builders Bathroom Remodel
You may have been thinking about that new upgrade for you main bathroom, but then you also notice that your half-bath could use a bit of work as well. And hey, while you’re at it, maybe let’s update the guest bathroom as well. When you’re ready to remodel your bathrooms, it can be a bit overwhelming. After all, your bathrooms are some of the most-used rooms in your home. But once the decision to renovate is made, another big question comes up: Should you dive in and tackle every bathroom at once, or take things one at a time? Both options have their pros and cons, and the answer isn’t going to be the same for everyone.
Realistically, it depends on your household’s day-to-day needs, budget, and your tolerance for a little (or a lot) of construction mess. Let’s break down the pros and cons of each approach so you can feel confident in the plan you choose.
Remodeling One Bathroom at a Time
Sometimes, you might just want to have a bit of time in between each renovation project, and that makes sense! There are tons of positive reason to do things slowly, but also a few negatives depending on your situation.
Pros:
Less disruption to daily life. If you have multiple bathrooms, you can keep one fully functional while the other is being renovated. This is a great option for those with larger families, or a need to use the bathroom fairly often. Leaving yourself an opening to not have to leave your home, or disrupt you natural routine with renovations can be a huge plus for your mental state during your renovation.
Easier on your budget. Spacing projects out allows you to spread costs over time, which can be easier on your finances. This means that you can budget out each bathroom when you’re ready, instead of struggling to may a large renovation cost upfront.
Cons:
Longer total timeline. Of course, waiting more in between projects means that it may turn a several weeks long project to complete several bathrooms at once, could turn into months and months of constant renovation mess and disrupted rooms.
Possible cost increases. As of summer 2025, the price of everything is going up. That includes material and labor prices for your renovation projects. Because of that, these prices can go up even more the longer you wait, meaning that budgeting each project months apart can also cause it be possibly be more expensive in the end.
Extended disruption. Leaving projects to come one after another can make your home feel like it is constantly a construction zone. Because of that, it can feel like ages before your home starts to feel clean and comfortable again.

Remodeling All Bathrooms at Once
If you’re the type who likes to get things done in one fell swoop, remodeling your bathrooms at the same time may be the answer. Not only does it cut your wait time for completion down significantly, it can also be more efficient in the long run. However, it also comes with its own set of challenges.
Pros:
Faster completion. Once the work is done, it’s done. You avoid going through the process multiple times. That means within a set time given by your contractor, you won’t have to worry about planning any more bathroom renovations!
Potential cost savings. Just like buying in bulk at the supermarket, bundling projects together can sometimes reduce labor costs and allow for bulk material purchases. Because of this, you save on material costs and overally project price points. This can be a great option for someone only looking to make one larger purchase rather than three or four smaller renovation purchases over time.
Cons:
Greater short-term inconvenience. With multiple bathrooms out of commission at once, you’ll need a plan for how you and your family will manage without them. Is there one that wasn’t being remodeled? Or is there a situation where you may have to plan other sleeping arrangements for the duration of the remodeling project?
Higher upfront investment. Paying for all the work at once requires a larger budget. If you’re looking for a better budgeting or payment plan, this may not be the best option for remodeling.
More decisions at once. If you’re planning a relaxing and centered remodel, focusing on several rooms at once can pose a bit of a challenge. Choosing all the fixtures, finishes, and layouts simultaneously for individual rooms with different aesthetics can feel a bit overwhelming.
How to Choose the Right Approach
When you’re figuring out how to remodel your bathrooms, start by thinking about how your household will function during the project. After all, this can be one of the major deciding factors for you. If you have extra bathrooms to use, tackling them all at once could work just fine. But if losing more than one would throw your daily routine into chaos, it might be better to handle them one at a time so everyone still has a space to get ready in the morning.
Also, your budget is another big piece of the puzzle. Doing all the work at once can sometimes save money overall, but it also means a bigger bill upfront. Spacing things out can make it easier to manage costs without feeling stretched too thin.
And then there’s timing. If you want everything wrapped up before the holidays or a big family event, knocking it out in one go might be worth the short-term hassle. If there’s no rush, spreading the work out can make the whole process a lot less stressful.

We just completed a major home renovation, including the kitchen, three bathrooms, and a complete electrical upgrade, and we’re very happy with the results. Like many large renovation projects, there were a few unexpected challenges along the way, including some significant preexisting structural issues and difficulties with the cabinet installation. What stood out to us was that Re-Builders stayed committed to addressing issues and making sure things were done right. We truly appreciated the skill and hard work from the Re-Builders team. The kitchen and bathrooms turned out beautifully, and we’re excited to enjoy our renovated home for years to come. Thank you to everyone at Re-Builders for helping bring our vision to life.
